Since the release of his latest album 2014 Forest Hills Drive, J. Cole has kept the interviews very minimal. The 30-year-old artist did a rare appearance recently, sitting down with Tavis Smiley on PBS’ The Tavis Smiley Show. In the 24-minute conversation, J. Cole discussed developing into a great storyteller, calling himself a “bedroom artist,” growing up at his 2014 Forest Hills Drive address in North Carolina, musical influences growing up, the transition from college graduate to one of today’s premier rappers, and the importance of family.
The Roc Nation MC closed the show out by decoding three songs off 2014 Forest Hills Drive: “A Tale Of Two Citiez,” “Fire Squad” and “Love Yourz.”
