Making a rare appearance on radio (which may or may not have anything to do with the 20th anniversary of Eazy-E’s passing), Dr. Dre swung by Big Boy’s Neighborhood this week to talk about the upcoming N.W.A biopic, Straight Outta Compton, and what he hopes fans will take away from the movie. “I hope they can be inspired, that was the main word we used when we went into this,” he said. “We want to show the ultimate brotherhood, betrayal — it has everything. And one of the things we really wanted to get across was how we feel about women, because there’s a big misconception.”
Dre also admitted that he was initially against doing an N.W.A movie because he was scared it would “put a blemish on our legacy,” but “once we got into it, it started feeling good.” Straight Outta Compton is set to hit theaters on August 14.
