Rapper Wais P was arrested April 8 for his role in promoting prostitution in Manhattan. The Wall Street Journal reported Wais was in court on DWI charges from 2014, and was placed under arrest in the prostitution case before leaving the courthouse. A few minutes later, the Teaneck (NJ) Police Department, with help from the NYPD, searched his home and storage locker, taking electronic equipment including computers, cellphones, tablets and media storage devices along with financial records, journals, and other evidence.
Wais P was the fourth person arrested by cops in the ongoing “Bright Lights…Big City” investigation. The men together are alleged to have trafficked at least 12 women. Investigators were able to identify trafficking victims among those already arrested on prostitution charges and gather ‘intelligence about the most important targets: those who operate sex trafficking rings,” reports The Wall Street Journal.
If you’re not sure who exactly Wais P is, he was featured on the Swizz Beatz produced Jay-Z track titled “If I Should Die,” and was part of Da Ranjahs, a group that rapped under Roc-A-Fella. He is still heavily affiliated with Jay Z as he was there from the beginning of his career. Apparently, Wais still spends Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners with Jay’s aunt in Brooklyn.
The rapper is currently being held without bail in Manhattan.
