After decades, New York City will finally commemorate the scores of enslaved Africans who helped build the city throughout the years. On June 19, 2015 city officials will unveil a marker acknowledging its role in slavery and serve a memorial to all the women, men and children who helped build New York City, according to WNYC.

Its said that NYC was the center of major sale of enslaved Africans, a large slave market prospered in what is now called the infamous Wall Street during the colonial times. The slaves built Broadway, the wall that once encircled Wall Street and the enslaved staged uprisings against their bondage in 1712 and 1741.

Some will look at this as a good thing, but others may look at this as another reminder of the brutal things that once took place. Whats your thoughts on this?
