Bruce Jenner told Diane Sawyer in an interview televised on ABC Friday night:

“Yes, for all intents and purposes, I’m a woman”

Bruce expressed to Diane, even though he remained in the spotlight almost all of his life, he was also living a lie because secretly he was a woman on the inside, now the secret is out and he can go on with pursuing his life as he should.

“I’ve been thinking about this day forever.”

This interview took over social media, and the support and love Bruce received and continues to receive is beyond his expectations. Many look up to 65-year-old Jenner for finally speaking out on an issue most people would never go public with, but Jenner expressed optimism that what he is doing will do some good, as he explained he will become involved in transgender activism.

Many advocates for the transgender community are thanking Jenner for bringing this issue mainstream for millions to see this is a real life issue. As far as sexuality, Bruce Jenner told Diane that he is not gay, he has never been with a guy.

“I’ve never been with a guy, there’s two different things here. Sexuality is who you are personally attracted to, but gender identity is who you are in your soul.”

In the interview, Jenner also stated that he initially started the transition in the 1980’s with use of female hormones for almost five years. At one point he contemplated suicide.

“I thought wouldn’t the easiest thing right now, just go in the room, get a gun, boom. Pain’s over, it’s done, go to a better place.”

Instead he lived through the pain and is now speaking out and is making millions of people proud, possibly can give transgenders a push to come out and be comfortable in their own skin.

I think it’s time to put Bruce Jenner back on a box of wheaties. Go Bruce!
