Fox has given his hip-hop soap opera “Empire” an 18 episode second season after just two episodes, Fox Television Groups co-chairman and CEO Dana Walden announced during Saturdays Television Critics Association press tour in Pasadena.
The show will return to its same Wednesday 9 p.m. time slot next season. Co-chief Gary Newman said:
“We’d be crazy to move it,”
Fox Television Group Co-Chairman/CEO Dana Walden told reporters on a Monday morning conference call:
“We don’t want to be greedy, if we came back with the audience we left off with we’d be thrilled,”
Joe Earley adds:
“We do believe there is an opportunity to grow the show, so we have been focused on catch-up,”
If this wasn’t good enough, there are some new editions to the show. Coming on board for Season 2 will be singer/songwriter Ne-Yo, in addition to Timbaland, will also add to Empire’s show music and “authenticity.”
