After performance artist Marina Abramovic blasted Jay Z in a recent interview for not donating to her institute despite his promise to in exchange for her help with his 2013 video “Picasso Baby,” an apology has been issued from her own institute to both her and Jay Z – after it was revealed he DID donate, and she just simply wasn’t informed!
Soon after the story was published, the video’s director Jeanne Greenberg Rohatyn spoke with artnet News, and gave proof that Hov did donate – reading the receipt over the phone.
“Thank you for your donation,” the receipt from her Hudson, New York institute says. The receipt is marked with the number W984804 and acknowledges a substantial donation.
Since then, the institute has released a statement in response:
Marina Abramovic was not informed of Shawn ‘Jay Z’ Carter’s donation from two years ago when she recently did an interview with Spike Magazine. We are sincerely sorry to both Marina Abramovic and Shawn ‘Jay Z’ Carter for this, and since then we have taken to appropriate actions to reconcile this matter.
Seems like she has some shady people working with her!
