Police Officers of the Chicago Police Department did something nice and hosted a daddy-daughter dance for all the little girls with absent fathers in town. Hopefully this will become a yearly event! The first one happened to be at the South Shore Cultural Center. All fathers and daughters are welcomed to join, but those girls without fathers around can still celebrate with commanders, sergeants and other officers as they stepped in. An attendee, 13 year old Brejay Payne went on to say:
“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime thing because some people don’t really associate with their fathers. So once you come out, dressed up, and dance, eat, and play with your father, it’s kind of a nice day.”
Officers had refreshments, music, and all smiles during the dance and helping the community positively. Commander Larry Watson said:
“They actually get to see us to find out that that the police are nothing but people. We just happen to have uniforms on.”
With being surrounded by all this police violence lately it’s great to see officers giving back.
