According to the New York Post, Apple is allegedly in talks with Drake regarding a proposed $19 million deal that would include a guest DJ spot on the soon-to-launch iTunes Radio.
If this rumor flourishes, Apple Radio may just weaken its competition such as YouTube, Pandora, Spotify, possibly even Tidal.
According to the Post’s “music industry sources,” Pharrell and David Guetta are also being considered as guest DJs. The Post also reports that Apple wants to offer users a three-month free trial period for the service (which will cost $10 per month), and it wants labels to give it music rights for free during that period. We will just have to wait and see how this does, as for anything Apple is involved with, one word, successful.
In other Apple Music news, another rumor floats around that Kanye West will be dropping SWISH as an Apple exclusive next month, but that’s not all. In addition to Apple being the rumored home of the forthcoming SWISH, it will reportedly “combine the best features” of all three platforms by incorporating the tentatively titled feature Apple Connect, wherein users can share content in a YouTube-like environment. Bravo Apple!
