Kendrick Lamar recently sat down with Hot 97 alongside Jay Rock and SchoolboyQ, to discuss the Charleston Church Shooting and other racial issues. Lamar’s recent music has reflected the daily struggles that have surrounded him and most African American communities. The rapper’s latest album To Kill A Butterfly has made a significant statement on police brutality and the racial issues America faces today.
Lamar stated in the interview:
“There’s an energy trying to spark an evil race war because these events are happening back-to-back. It’s demonized events now. It’s starting to get a little deeper than just hatred.”
Also commenting on the matter was SchoolboyQ stating the media’s obsession with adversity.
“I’ve never seen this much attention. The media loves this, and we just keep giving them more power by talking about it. We know what’s going on. I just think the media needs to stop pushing it in our faces all the time. It makes hate.”
