Janice Bryant Howroyd is the first African-American woman to own a billionaire dollar company.

The 62-year-old is the founder and CEO of Act-1 Group, the largest minority-owned employment agency in the U.S., according to NBC’s Today Show.
Howroyd, who is one of 11 children, has spent over 40 years helping women to find work. She launched the company in 1978 with only $900 to her name and today operates in over 75 cities across the world.
She told NBC correspondent #JennaBush that her life motto is: “Never compromise who you are personally to become who you wish to be professionally.”
