Tyrese had been doing some crazy promotion for his final album, Black Rose, and it’s officially paid off by earning the No.1 spot on the Billboard charts. Last week the internet was buzzing when we got wind of how Tyrese had been going about the album’s promotion.

We saw videos of Tyrese taking NYC subways and buses to urge people to buy and support Black Rose. Tyrese even got some negative attention when he used a homeless person to promote the album, saying,

“They say fans don’t buy full album no more, this is what R&B looks like,” in reference to the sleeping homeless person in the video.

Not that I’m trying to justify all the ways he promoted the album, however, it seemed to have worked. Black Rose is Tyrese’s first album to land at No.1, what better way to step away from the music than by having your final album be your first No.1 album?
