In a Lafayette, Louisiana movie theater a 59-year-old by the name of John Russel Houser decided to stand up and pull out a handgun and begin to shoot people right when the comedy “Trainwreck” was about to begin.
According to the police chief he fired at least 13 rounds. The shooter was described as a wanderer from Alabama and had only been in Lafayette since early July. Authorities found multiple “disguises, basically” at the hotel room where he was staying at.
As for the innocent victims, Mayci Breaux, 21, died at the scene, and Jillian Johnson, 33, died later at a nearby hospital. He also wounded nine others. This shooting literally comes within days of James Holmes being guilty in the Colorado theater massacre. Col. Michael Edmonson of the Louisiana State Police said:
“There’s nothing to believe that there was any kind of motive. We want to talk to the (victims’) families first and let them know what happened. We owe them that respect.”
