All true hip-hop heads have been patiently waiting for Dr.Dre to finally release his Detox album, but it might be time to let go of that idea. However, on Saturday August 1, the rapper/producer announced his upcoming and final album, Compton. The album will be made available on iTunes August 7 and will serve as a soundtrack for the film “Straight Outta Compton,” which is set to hit theaters August 14.
When speaking on how he became involved in the film’s soundtrack, the producer mogul said,
“I was leaving the set, coming to the studio, and I felt myself just being so inspired by the movie that I started recording an album. And I kept it under wraps. And the album is finished.”
The album includes the talents of Eminem, Ice Cube, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg and Jill Scott.

In seeing that he referred to Compton as his “grand finale,” we can officially be assured that we’re not getting Dextox, which most of us have already accepted.
Dr.Dre told Beats1 Radio Show,
“The reason ‘Detox’ didn’t come out was because I didn’t like it. I don’t think I did a good enough job, and I couldn’t do that to my fans, and I couldn’t do that to myself, to be perfectly honest with you. I just wasn’t feeling it.”
We’re sure Compton will make the 16 year wait worthwhile.
