Despite bringing the entire city out for his OVO Fest without incident, a late night after party for Drake’s event turned ended violently. At Muzik night club last night, a shooting that left 3 people critically injured and one female and one male dead.
Toronto Police Superintendent Frank Bergen told media:
“This is a sporadic shooting that did occur just before 3:30 this morning at 15 Saskatchewan. It’s the Muzik Nightclub. A well-run event with lots of police officers in and around the area, culminating on a large evening event that occurred over at the OVO Festival.”
One victim died on the scene and the other was pronounced dead at the hospital. He also said the victims were in their 20’s and 30’s but released no further details.
Homicide is carrying on an investigation with the help of others within the police station and advises anyone that has been injured or has any knowledge of the shooting to come forward.
A similar event took place last year following OVO 14, which led Bergen to say “We’re satisfied at this point that the organization involved was doing their best and this did occur at 3:30 this morning as things were shutting down for the evening.”
