The hit show Empire may be under fire, because of new lawsuit that the world’s favorite character, “Cookie Lyons,” is a case of stolen identity.
53-year-old Sophia Eggleston claims she is the real “Cookie” and is suing the show’s creator, Lee Daniels, and Fox for $300 million. Eggleston claims she met with screenwriter Rita Miller and gave her a copy of her written life story, titled The Hidden Hand, back in 2011. Miller informed her that she was going to pitch the idea to Daniels. The show Empire was released in 2015 and Eggleston claimed she noticed various similarities.
The filed lawsuit claims, “Cookie was a drug kingpin that went to jail. So did plaintiff Eggleston. Cookie is released from jail confinement and immediately places a hit on a certain individual. Plaintiff . . . actually was jailed for doing the actual hit on a man.”
