The step-granddaughter of Morgan Freeman named E’dena Hines, was stabbed to death early Sunday morning according to reports.
Hines was found lying in the street outside of her New York apartment at around 3am with multiple stab wounds to her torso. A 30-year-old man was taken into custody at the scene and then taken to Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. Hines was just 33-years-old.
In a statement, Freeman reflected on the life of his granddaughter, calling her a star.
The world will never know her artistry and talent, and how much she had to offer,” he said. “Her friends and family were fortunate enough to have known what she meant as a person.
“Her star will continue to shine bright in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. May she rest in peace.”
Hines, was the granddaughter of Freeman’s first wife, was also an actress and studied at New York University’s Graduate Acting Program, and taught students in her hometown of Memphis, TN.
