Timing is everything. What a better time than ever for Dr. Dre to release his first album in sixteen years. Entitled Compton, the sound track vividly pars up with the feature film biography on rap group, N.W.A in the 1990’s.

Exceeding expectations beyond compare, Straight Outta Compton debuted over the weekend bringing in $56.1 million and did so in the favor of Dr. Dre boosting his first week of album sales.

According to the official report by Billboard, the iconic producer’s LP hit hard ranking in at No. 2 with 295,000 equivalent album units. Out of that 295,000 copies 276,000 of those units were purely album sales. On the Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums list Compton came in at No.1 making it Dr.Dre’s third chart-topper behind The Chronic and 2001.  Among the list of elite albums this year, Compton comes in third place to Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly and Drake’s If Your Reading This, It’s Too Late. Finishing off his show stopping week, the paramount Apple employee’s newest project streamed 25 million times on Apple Music.

It’s clear that Dr. Dre hasn’t lost his touch at all proving his relevancy among the new-age rap generation.
