Last week, Matt Barnes told TMZ Sports about the status of his friendship with Bajan Bad Gyal, Rihanna. He described her as a “close friend” whom he had a “crush on,” and even went on to talk about a future between the two of them.

Hours later, RiRi posted a hilarious screenshot of the interview and used the hashtags #shesnotthatintoyou, #thishurtmyfeelings and more to completely obliterate the story and Barnes’ feelings for her to the public.

Whether Rihanna wants to acknowledge their “relationship” or not, Matt Barnes is sticking to his story and spoke publicly about the situation in a new interview with Jim Rome.  According to him, he has no reason to lie and never has in his entire life.

“I’m too grown to lie,” he said. “You know what I mean? It is what it is, I’m going to let this blow by like everything else blows by…I just smiled. I just smiled, that’s it. What can you do? At the end of the day, we’re all grown-ups. Like I said, I’m too grown to be lying about stuff, but life is life. You live and you learn.”

He then went on to emphasize the role the truth plays in all aspects of his life.

“I’m grown…. Life, sports, whatever it is, I’m just about the truth. I’m always going to be me, even if you know sometimes my mouth gets me in trouble. I’m always going to be me, because I speak on things I feel passionately about. So love me or hate me, I’m going to be me regardless.”

Well there you have it, folks.  That’s Matt’s story and he’s sticking with it.

**Waits for follow up Rihanna response**
