Congrats go out to The Weeknd, who has nabbed his first number one album with his third official release, Beauty Behind The Madness. With a whopping 412k units sold, this puts the Canadian crooner just behind his good friend Drake for the biggest debut of 2015 thus far!
Elsewhere on the charts, the Straight Outta Compton hype has seemingly worn off a tad, as the 1989 N.W.A. album of the same name has dropped out of the Billboard 200 top 10 after a 2-week resurgence. However, they still remain in the top 20, so the buzz is still around! The movie opened up in theaters internationally last week, and this past weekend, became number 1 in Australia, New Zealand, UK, Ireland and Germany…so I’m sure they’ll be selling some more records there as well. In an interesting coincidence, yesterday marked the 24-year anniversary of Ice Cube‘s AmeriKKKa’s Most Wanted being certified platinum. Oh, and today is Eazy-E‘s birthday. Oh yeah, and Dr. Dre’s Compton is still in the top 10, chillin’ at number 5 with 32k units sold. West, west, y’all!
