While appearing on Showtime’s “Inside the NFL” Brandon Marshall discussed Tom Brady and the infamous “Deflategate” drama. Marshall said that “a lot of players” believe that skin color is a factor when it comes to disciplinary decisions made by the NFL.
“There are a lot of players out there that believe that white plays, specifically at the quarterback position, are treated differently,” Marshall said.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that Brady’s four game suspension was lifted after an appeal was filed by Brady.
Marshall’s argument was if it was Cam Newton, the judge would’ve swayed another way.
Marshall also made it very clear that it’s not just African-American football players that feel this way.
“I’ve had this conversation with Caucasian players as well. The most important part of this whole discussion is the process for the players. They just want the process to be fair and right. They just want to get it right.”
I think this is something that we all know to be true, look at Pittsburgh right now. Ben Roethlisberger has been accused of rape and the league and fans turned a blind eye, but when word came out that Mike Vick might signed (he signed yesterday) with the Steelers, the fans were upset. So much so that they started a petition to stop Vick from signing. Mike Vick served his time in jail, while Roethlisberger quietly settled out of civil court with the alleged victim and was never charged.
Things that make you go hmmmm.
