Michelle Obama stopped by the Late Show on Monday for an interview with Stephen Colbert where she discussed post White House plans. She makes a couple jokes and says that she cant wait until she can just open a window and go to Target.
More importantly, she mentions her campaign Let Girls Learn that’s centered around improving education for young women all over the world.
The joke kicked in when Colbert asked The First Lady about the letter tradition. In past presidencies, first wives leave the next First Lady a letter to pass on the baton of the important position. Colbert asks, “Without naming names, if we have a female president next, would you leave a letter for her husband?”
He continued, “What would you say? What’s the thing he needs to know more than anything else about the job?” Michelle Obama responded and said “I would say, follow your passion. Just be you.”
Of course, Colbert took advantage of this opportunity and referenced in Bill Clinton as he replied, “I think he does.”
I think we can all get a good laugh out of this one.
