Every week since the season two premiere of Empire last month, the show has seen a decline in ratings. The FOX drama pulled in 12.2 million viewers for last week’s Season 2, Episode 4 (“Poor Yorick”), and pulled a 4.6 rating in the all important adults 18-49 demo. That’s down from 12.9 million viewers and a 5.0 from the week before. During season one, Empire broke records by increasing their viewership numbers with each episode, but no need to worry, with with the dip in ratings, the show is still the number one show on the network and of Wednesday nights.
A couple of weeks ago when the show ratings began to slip, many credited to a dull storyline and large amount of celebrity cameos. One of the show’s producers, Ilene Chaiken told Variety in a recent interview, “The numbers are beyond our control, but they’re still pretty damn good. It was inevitable that it would even out and settle. My expectation is that we’ll vacillate over the season.”
Everybody keep calm, it’s not like the show is ‘Homeboys In Outer space.’
