Saturday night was the 2015 Memphis Music Hall of Fame Induction where former ‘N Sync member and successful solo artist, Justin Timberlake was honored by peers and friends in his hometown. Timberlake was introduced by close friend, comedian Jimmy Fallon.
“As his friend I could tell you that this is such a big honor for Justin and it couldn’t happen to a more deserving guy. He’s given us so much amazing music over the years. I’m talking ‘Cry Me a River,’ ‘SexyBack,’ ‘Suit & Tie,’ ‘Mirrors,’ ‘Dick in a Box!’ That’s right, he was the first Justin whose dick went viral. Sorry, Bieber,” Fallon said in front of the crowd of 2,100 at the Tennessee City’s Cannon Center.
Timberlake’s 20 minute speech included joking with Three 6 Mafia’s DJ Paul (who was inducted in 2012 with the group) and of course cracking jokes on friend, Jimmy Fallon’s expense. He called both the Grammy’s and Oscars “political” and said the induction into the Memphis Music Hall Of Fame was the “coolest” thing to happen to him. The tear jerking moment of the night was when the Memphis singer gave thanks to his wife, actress Jessical Biel.”Baby, I love you more than I could put into words and more than any song I could ever write,” as he held back tears, he called her “tough as nails,” loving and “incredibly understanding.”
Sam Moore, who is half of the duo Sam & Dave, performed to close the show. Timberlake joined him on stage, and danced during “Soul Man” and “Hold On, I’m Comin’.” They then sang “(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay” together. Watch the speech below.
