The Weeknd has had a hell of a year in 2015. His third album, Beauty Behind The Madness, saw an insane amount of success propelled by the singles “Can’t Feel My Face,” and “The Hills.”
The Mano and Illangelo produced song arrived back in May, and has been in many rotations since it dropped. There’s a bit of news surrounding the song that may leave a sour taste in a few mouths though. According to TMZ, Cutting Edge Music has filed a lawsuit against The Weeknd for allegedly using a certain sound from a movie named The Machine. The company scored the film and even said the producer of “The Hills” even recognized one of the composer’s on Twitter by sharing a compliment over the sound that has been allegedly stolen.
The company hasn’t announced how much money they are seeking for the Toronto star, but have stated they didn’t give him permission to use the sound. Stay tuned as more details develop.
