Spike Lee has been under fire since the day the trailer released for his movie Chi-Raq back in November. The movie was finally released in select theaters and has received a ton of criticism from the likes of G Herbo, Twista, and even the mayor of Chicago Rahm Emanuel.
The film was accompanied by an original motion picture soundtrack, which you can cop on iTunes. The soundtrack was released on December 4th and featured stars like Jhene Aiko, Nick Cannon, and of course the pied piper of R&B R. Kelly. R. Kelly linked with fellow Chicago native Tink for the uplifting song “Put The Guns Down,” which promotes non-violence.
R. Kelly had some words about the song that were just as uplifting as the track itself, view that below.
“One man can’t do it by himself. I would hope that I have some type of influence out there on the younger and the older people. As far as violence is concerned period, put the guns down, put the knives down and, most of all, put the hating down. Love is going to get us through all of things we’re going through.”
