Thursday night was the season premiere of Spike’s Lip Sync Battle. The show takes two celebrities and have them lip sync for their lives by recreating music videos, using dancers and sometimes recruit celebrity guests to preform some of their favorite songs, it’s not your typical karaoke.
The season premiere featured Magic Mike’s Channing Tatum going up against his wife, Step Up star Jenna Dewan-Tatum. Jenna preformed Paula Abdul’s classic hit “Cold Hearted Snake” and even preformed the breakdown dance number with Abdul herself (she hasn’t missed a beat, the song is like 25 years old and she looked straight out the video). While Channing preformed the infamous song “Let It Go” from the hit Disney movie Frozen. Just as Jenna thought she held the edge over Channing after her performance of Ginuwine’s “Pony” (an homage to her husband and his Magic Mike character), Channing up the ante by performing Beyoncé “Who Run The World (Girls).”
In a full wig and face full of make up, Channing preformed Beyonce’s song like it was his own, but the surprise came when the Queen Bey herself came and preformed the alongside Channing! It was all of five seconds, but even Channing was amazed by Beyoncé’s presence. In the end, the husband and wife duo both won the grand lip sync belt, check out Jenna’s “Pony” performance and Channing’s “Run the World (Girls)” performance below.
