Streaming music is the prominent source of how people acquire music, today. Apple Music, still a baby in the game of streaming has reached, 10 million subscribers in just six months.
Beat that, Spotify! It took six years for the Swedish company to reach that plateau of revenue according to Fortune. However, Spotify remains in the lead among streaming providers with 20 million subscribers as of 2016.
Apple Music birthed from it’s goldmine parent company, Apple in June of 2015. So, we can assert that it will be no time before they close the gap with their lead competitor.
Currently Apple Music features Beats 1 radio led by Dr. Dre, Pharrell, and our boss Ebro Darden who’s on air everyday. Drake also sits at the top of their marketing roster having already released the videos for “Hotline Bling” and “Energy” through this service. The #WATTBA artist followed up with the announcement that his upcoming project, “Views From The 6” will also be released exclusively with Apple.
For now, Apple has a lot to celebrate but with the high competition in the streaming game, we are sure Tidal will figure out how to shake things up.
