Iconic rep group Run-DMC will finally get the Grammy they rightfully deserve now. Run-DMC being true hip hop pioneers have been nominated for a Grammy before but it was in the Best R&B category, only because there was no hip hop category at the time. They will join the likes of Earth Wind & Fire, John Cage, Ruth Brown, Jefferson Airplane, Herbie Hancock, Celia Cruz and Linda Ronstadtas recipients of the Grammys Life Time Achievement Award.

In a statement President and CEO of the Recording Academy,Neil Portnow  said, “Each year, The Academy has the distinct privilege of honoring those who have greatly contributed to our industry and cultural heritage, and this year we have a gifted and brilliant group of honorees.”

Catch the Grammys live Feb 15th at 8pm.
