The latest warrior to speak out in the #OscarsSoWhite battle is superstar actor, Will Smith.

Standing by his wife’s call for a boycott of this year’s ceremonies, Will sat down with Good Morning America for an exclusive with Robin Roberts to discuss his thoughts on the diversity, and the lack of it, in Hollywood.

When asked why diversity in nominations is so pertinent, Will had this to say:

“The nominations reflect the Academy, the Academy reflects the Industry, and that Industry reflects America.”

He also agreed with George Clooney’s sentiments about the Academy moving backwards when it comes to nominating black actors.

“I’ve lost twice, and each time I lost to a black man (once to Denzel and once to Forrest Whitaker) … That’s the beauty of it.”
