After delivering a powerful portrayal of a young Dr. Dre in box office smash, “Straight Outta Compton,” actor Corey Hawkins just landed another major role FOX’s spin-off of action TV series “24,” entitled, “24: Legacy.”
According to multiple reports, the spinoff will not bring back Kiefer Sutherland’s character of Jack Bauer. The new series will revolve around a military hero’s return to the U.S. and the trouble that follows him from his time abroad. The hero asks the CTU for help in saving his life and stopping what could potentially be one of the largest-scale terror attacks on American soil, according to Variety.
Hawkins will play the part of Eric Carter in the 13-episode pilot. His character is described as “strong and smart.” He survived a rough childhood and adolescence in Virginia (which isn’t too far from where Hawkins was raised in DC), but turns his life around while in the Army Rangers. Carter, now married to his wife Nicole (the female lead is TBD) must fight when his past comes back to haunt him.
Up next, Hawkins will star in the King Kong prequel film Skull Island.
