TIDAL teams up with Jay Z’s other company, Roc Nation, to donate 1.5 million dollars to the Black Lives Matter movement as well as other related groups. This announcement came on the same day Trayvon Martin would have turned 21. In October, TIDAL held their first annual charity concert, TIDAL X:10/20, where $1.5 million was raised to go toward The New World foundation which supports social movements.
The non profits that TIDAL also will donate to include Opportunity Agenda, Hands Up United, Sankofa.Org, as well as local groups such as California’s Community Coalition; Florida’s Dream Defenders; Illinois’s Black Youth Project; Maryland’s Baltimore Justice Fund; Empowerment Development Corporation; New York’s Million Hoodies; NY Justice League and Ohio’s Ohio Students Association/Organizing Collaborative.
Donations will also be given to created by the victims families such as the Trayvon Martin Foundation, the Michael O.D Brown We Love Our Sons And Daughters Foundation and the Oscar Grant Foundation.
