As if their 12-year-old son being wrongfully shot and killed by the police and those same police showing no sympathy by saying your sons death was his “own fault” was not enough, the city of Cleveland sent Tamir Rice’s family a bill for the ambulance in which their son spent his final moments.
The Rice family was sent the bill nearly 15 months after their sons death. Steve Loomis, Police Union President, told a CNN affiliate that he and Subodh Chandra, Rice family attorney, didn’t agree on anything until now. He said:
“It is unconscionable that the city of Cleveland would send that bill to the Rice family.”
Using his conscience – as any kind hearted human would do- he added:
“The callousness, insensitivity and poor judgement required to send a bill….is breathtaking. It adds insult to homicide.”
Tamir Rice’s mother, Samaria Rice, feels that the invoice amounts to harassment. We definitely agree.
The Rice family should not have to suffer anymore.
