On Tuesday night, Ingrid Williams, wife of OKC Thunder Assistant coach Monty Williams, was the victim of a car accident in Oklahoma City.
Another driver crossed over the center lane and hit her head on. The driver died immediately at the scene while Williams was rushed to the hospital where she died Wednesday due to injuries sustained in the crash.
The Thunder released an official statement expressing their condolences,
“The Thunder organization has heavy hearts tonight with the news of Ingrid’s passing. Words can not adequately describe how deep our sorrow is for the loss of Monty’s wife. Our thoughts and prayers are with Monty and his family, and we support him in every way possible. We know the entire community of Oklahoma City has them in their prayers”.
The Thunder were not the only ones to send their condolences. Monty has had a long and prosperous carrer with the NBA having played about a decade for various teams including the Knicks, Spurs, Nuggets, Magic and the 76ers as well has serving as head coach of the Pelicans for five years before he joined the Thunder organization a year ago. Many current and former NBA players and coaches took to Twitter to show love to Monty and express their sympathies:
