Just before the Grammy Awards, music executive L.A. Reid stopped by Kidd Kraddick’s radio show to promote his new book Sing to Me: My Story of Making Music, Finding Magic, and Searching for Who’s Next. But the interview took an interesting turn when Andre 3000 surprisingly showed up in the middle of it!
Three Stacks wasn’t there long, but he did briefly talked about some of the music he’s been listening to lately and how his son, Seven usually puts him on to it.
“Kid Cudi’s last album Speeding Bullet is the best thing to come out in a long time. Thug is charging up the rap game, Young Thug. Future is charging up the rap game. These are people I listen to.”
Later in he interview, 3000 speaks on freestyling vs. writing:
“I’m not a good freestyler. I think it’s a confidence thing and an overthinking thing. You gotta just let your mind free. Actually, that’s the greatest asset to rappers now. They actually freestyle most of those verses. They don’t write. They laugh at us when we write.”
You can currently see Andre 3000 on American Crime, every Wednesday on ABC. As far as the interview is concerned, you can check out part one of the interview above, and part two is below.
