South Carolina teacher, Raymond Nelson starts initiative “The Gentlemen Club” to teach young boys life lessons. On Wednesdays at Memminger Elementary school, boys dress up in suits and are taught important mannerisms. The boys are taught how to speak to elderly, opening doors, and how to give a firm handshake just to name a few. Raymond Nelson started the program to help the at risk students in the area.
“I was thinking maybe if I have the boys dress for success, When was the last time you saw someone fighting in a tuxedo?” The motto for his initiative, “Look good, feel good, do good.”
Nelson also states that he keeps donated jackets, vests, and ties around for the students who may not be able afford it. Nelson shared that he joined a similar program as an adolescent upon his mother’s request. Nelson said, “it helped me to be a better man and I could spread the knowledge to the young boys.”
