Ya’ll remember when Lil’ Wayne OWNED radio? No matter the genre: Pop, Hip Hop, he even threw on same vans, picked up a skateboard, “played” guitar, and put out a rock album! He was featured on every song that was ANY song back in the day (Yes, 2000’s is “back in the day” now, yikes). Your grandma and like, your sophomore social studies teacher’s uncle even knew at least three verses by heart.
Anyway, now a days Wayne’s kept it a little more low key. King Weezy has shifted a bit more to, well, King Yeezy. That is – until recently. This morning, the social media mogul himself, Kanye West (we hear he does music too), took a break from his regularly scheduled Twitter wars and tweeted out the album artwork and release date for the highly anticipated collaboration album with Weezy and 2 Chainz, ColleGrove. The artwork includes a close-up of 2 Chainz in a reminiscent classic Carter pose with Wayne’s iconic facial tattoos. It’s likely that this was a Kanye/DONDA-designed cover, as he’s designed covers for both artists in the past.
Fortunately, the wait for the album will not be long, as Ye revealed that it will arrive on Friday, March 4th.
