Brooklyn is hip-hop and this Monday, Foxy Brown received the key to her hometown. Although the rapper has remained relatively under the radar in the past few years, as her last major appearance was on Rick Ross’s Deeper Than Deep album in 2009, her contribution to the culture is undeniable.
She posted the certificate commemorating her as a key recipient from the Office of the President of the Borough of Brooklyn, City of New York on Tuesday morning and captioned
“Only ONE Chick Alone Got The “KEY” To Her Home #BROOKLYN!!!!!! It’s OFFICIAL! BK Is #MINE!”
Hip-hop is winning all over the globe, too, as Brown is only the most recent recipient of the prestigious award. Last month, Kendrick Lamar received the key to Compton from the Mayor at the Martin Luther King Monument for being a “symbol…that dreams really do come true,” and not too long after, Toronto presented Drake with a key as well!
