LL Cool J has jokes.

The rapper went on Twitter to announce his retirement, saying that he wasn’t focusing his efforts on music anymore, but instead, putting time and energy into his other entrepreneurial endeavours.

Then, a few hours after breaking the “news’, LL got back onto Twitter to assure us he was just playing, and that he most definitely had some new music in the works.

Some folks didn’t find the joke very funny, to which LL responded “Oh because I’ve been doing this a long time I can’t have fun with this twitter game ? Lol”.   Just last week on Beats 1, LL did a freestyle over an unreleased Dr. Dre beat that left many wanting more and wondering if this meant there was some new material coming from LL.

Confirming the new album, LL says this joint is going to be something extra special, saying, “What I’m going to do is make something for [the fans]. Like a special record that’s really going to be for hip-hop. I get into experimental mode and I get in my creative scientist mode and I like to do different things.”
