Birth of a Nation producer and actor, Nate Parker, is putting his money where his mouth his when it comes to making Hollywood diverse. The actor launched a film program at Texas HBCU, Wiley College.

Parker took to Twitter to announce that the program will commence starting Fall of 2016. The school, which was also the location where Denzel Washington and Jurnee Smollett-Bell filmed the movie The Great Debaters, will also give a preview the new program to 3o lucky high school students and college students in a nine day program in the summer. Parker’s vision for the program is for it to cover all aspects of film making, while also keeping with the cultural and historical aspects of film. Parker told Vibe

You control the moving picture, you control the masses, so really getting them rallied around the idea of reclaiming the narrative of America, specifically through the eyes of people of color.
