Slaughterhouse group member, Royce Da 5’9 sat down with Vlad Tv and gave his opinion on Ghostwriting in HipHop and whether Drake should be penalized for it.

Ever since the Meek Mill and Drake feud, ghostwriting has been a hot topic in Hip-hop. When Meek Mill dropped a reference track of Drake’s verse to “Rico,” and no one seemed to care, this seemed to be a turning point in hip-hop. Vlad Tv asked, Royce about this and he told them that people’s nonchalant reaction to Drake using reference tracks was surprising. But at the same time it made him not care about the reference track as well. “Drizzy! Drizzy not writing! Because he’s so f**king dope,” said Royce. “After awhile and looking at it in retrospect, it’s a newer way of creating.” He would go on to say that if this is the way hip-hop was evolving then he would have to accept. Although he gave props on being able to make a record using different elements, he thinks as a lyricist, Drizzy will have to lose some points.

Royce also comments on how he has ghostwritten for P. Diddy and Dr. Dre.
