The Obama’s have redefined the first family landscape by continuing to create a very interactive platform with supporters. Over the span of President Obama’s two terms in office he and First Lady Michelle Obama have been active participants in curating holidays events, and special events suurounding around things they value. Earlier this week our First family hosted the “Easter Egg Roll” at the White House in commemoration of the Easter holiday and next on the agenda, International Jazz Day.

It’s no denying how much they love and adore all types music. During this year’s “South by Southwest” music festival in Austin, Texas; Mrs. Obama dished on where her long love with Jazz stemmed from as a little girl growing up in Chicago. She revealed that one of her grandfathers loved and collected jazz, so everyday Saturday she would visit him and they would just sit and play music.

When the opportunity to participate in this year’s Intertnational Jazz Day established by The Jazz Institute and UNESCO came about they jumped at the opportunity. The celebration will showcase the music greats Aretha Franklin, Al Jarreau, Sting, Herbie Hancokc and other on April 29 for a grand festival. It will be televised by ABC on April 30, which is the fifth anniversary of International Jazz Day.

They continue to not only invite but involve the public in a way no other presidential couple has in history! Though the chapter of his reign as our first black president may be coming to a close soon the Obama’s are keeping the good times at the White House rolling!
