Earlier this week we reported that the late Phife Dawg was working on new music at the time of his surprising death. Well we have his visual for the song “Nutshell.”
The video starts off with some well renown legendary rappers saying great things about Phife that speak to how people felt about his character and just how real of a person he was. The beginning of the video was the perfect set up for the rest of the song because Phife would go on to describe who he is and his place in the rap game in the song.
The video is simple with just Phife rapping in what looks like an empty parking garage, but what catches you is the nonstop bars Phife has to give. Even though the song has an old school rap feel, the new school of rap can’t deny Phife killed it rhyme wise in the song.
“Nutshell”,which is produced by J Dilla, is a prelude to Phifes upcoming album called, Give Thanks. Half of the proceeds from the album will be given to The American Diabetes Association and the National Kidney Foundation.
