Texas school officer Joshua Kehm has been fired for body slamming 12-year-old Janissa Valdez on video. On Monday San Antonio school officials have released a statement to “terminate the employment of Officer Joshua Kehm, effective immediately.” The district superintendent Pedro Maritinez stated, “we understand that situations can sometimes escalate to the point of requiring a physical response; however, in this situation we believe that the extent of the response was absolutely unwarranted.”
In the disturbing video Kehm is seen lifting up Valdez and slamming her into the ground face first and then arresting her while she’s laid out. According to Martinez, Kehm’s police report was late and “inconsistent” to what is seen in the video. Martinez went on to say that Kehm did not follow police department’s “general operating procedures.”
Valdez also shared that she was actually not going to engage into an altercation with the other student.”I was going up to her to tell her let’s go somewhere else so we could talk, but that’s when the cop thought I was going at her. I was not going to do anything.” The District attorneys office and the school district are both conducting separate investigations on this matter.
