Welp, looks like FADER mag can put away their bulletproof vests. They’ve obtained the trust of young Metro Boomin, and thus he appears on the cover of their April/May 2016 issue.
Thanks to Future rapping the now-infamous tagline, the successful producer is now seeing a lot more mainstream fame, and is even selling his own merchandise. Sitting down with FADER, he discusses how he OJ The Juiceman was the first rapper to give him a shot, how his mother was so supportive she’d drive him roundtrip from St. Louis to Atlanta weekend after weekend so he could work with OJ, how he’s working on Views From The 6 and more. It’s a REALLY great read.
Metro also discussed the friendly competition between his two friends Young Thug and Future, which leads for a bit of tension behind-the-scenes at times.
“It’s some crazy shit,” he said. “You can’t have either one of them feel like you fucking with the other one more than them. Either one of them would be offended. You gotta remain neutral as much as possible. It’s no bias. Atlanta, man—everybody’s a male, there’s a lot of ego. Somebody gotta be number one. Neither one of them are the type to settle for number two. I feel like they both motivate each other, and it’s good for the culture and the music—just as long as it stay at that.”
