The L.A. Rams and Tennessee Titans on Thursday announced a blockbuster trade that saw the Rams acquire the first overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft. The deal, however, actually happened on Wednesday.
Peter Schrager of Fox Sports confirmed that the Rams waited until Thursday to break the news in honor of not spoiling Kobe Bryant’s final game.
In what is the biggest pre-draft trade since the Redskins partnered with the Rams and moved up to take Robert Griffin III in 2012 with the No. 2 pick, both teams decided to stray from interrupting the Black Mamba’s special night.
It was an amazing gesture by both teams and the NFL, especially given the fact that Kobe went for 60 in his final game in a Laker uniform.
