In honor of National Weed Day, Snapchat created a Bob Marley filter, which allows users to digitally adjust their face to look like the late the musician.  The filter gives the users a beanie, dreadlocks, and a dark skin tone. Some people found the filter offensive and are considering it as a form of “digital blackface.”

Snapchat released a statement and completely defends their creation of the filter. “The lens we launched today was created in partnership with the Bob Marley Estate, and gives people a new way to share their appreciation for Bob Marley and his music. Millions of Snapchatters have enjoyed Bob Marley’s music, and we respect his life and achievements.” Check out the filters below.
