As Bobby Shmurda is awaiting trial for conspiracy, drugs and weapons charges from his December 2014 arrest, two of his fellow GS9 affiliates were convicted of murder.
Rashid Derissant and Alex Crandon were found guilty of the February 2013 murder of a rival gang member in Brooklyn. They were found guilty of Conspiracy in the Second and Fourth Degrees, Murder in the Second Degree, several counts of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, Assault in the First and Second Degrees, Attempted Assault in the First Degree, Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree, and Criminal Use of a Firearm in the First Degree.
Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget G. Brennan released a statement that the shooting was a “cold-blooded murder” that involved “wild gunplay” and was a complete disregard for safety.
Bobby Shmurda and Rowdy Rebel are set to start trial in late May.
