NYC high school student, Kelly Hyles is serving up the academic, textbook version of #BlackGirlMagic. Hyles, originally from Guyana received 21 college acceptance letters, eight of which as for all the Ivy League schools in the country.
In the words of Future, you do what you want when you poppin’. Hyles has a plethora of schools to choose from, any lucky to have her. Hyles attributes her mother with the credit to bring her to the United States to take advantage of better educational opportunities. “When I got into the colleges, I told my mom, I was like ‘Oh, these acceptance letters are as much mine as they are yours,” said Hyles.
These acceptances didn’t just come by chance either, Hyles attends the High School for Math, Science and Engineering at City College, while at night she does research at Mt. Sinai Hospital.
