Not that anyone would ever admit to this, but today Rachel Roy has confirmed that she isn’t “Becky with the good hair.” The theory that she could’ve been the “Becky” at the center of Beyonce’s song “Sorry” began when Roy captioned one of her photos mocking the lyric from the song on Instagram.
After the vicious Beyhive came at her and blew up her Instagram account and photos, Rachel decided to delete the photo and make her account private. She then canceled an appearance in New York City Monday night. Now she has released a statement exclusively to People denying that she is “Becky”:
“I want to put the speculation and rumors to rest. My Instagram post was meant to be fun and lighthearted, it was misunderstood as something other than that. There is no validity to the idea that the song references me personally. There is no truth to the rumors.”
Of course this statement comes after her teenage daughter also began to get harassed due to the accusations. She continued:
“Consequently, online haters have targeted me and my daughters in a hurtful and scary manner, including physical threats. As a mother – and I know many mothers would agree – I feel that bullying in any form is harmful and unacceptable. I would hope that the media sees the real issue here – the issue of cyber bullying – and how it should not be tolerated by anyone.”
Well we all assume she is telling the truth. The hunt for this mysterious Becky is still on for the Beyhive! Everyone looks like they have now turned to Rita Ora….
